When the sun makes an appearance, there’s nothing better than enjoying a light lunch or romantic dinner outside in the summer air. Here are some of our favourite places to do so.
Hush
Lancashire Court, Brook Street, Mayfair, W1S 1EY
Despite being named Hush, this restaurant cannot remain a secret. Located in the heart of Mayfair, the restaurant has recently transformed its courtyard into a world of 1920s Art Deco with the launch of Riviera. Open until the start of September, the coastal-inspired atmosphere is ideal for summer dining, surrounding its guests with an array of stripes and seashells.
Bonnie Gull pop-up
Brown Hart Gardens, Mayfair, W1K 6TD
Sitting proudly atop Brown Hart Gardens is The Garden Café, which will be home to a Bonnie Gull pop-up over the summer months. It’ll likely prove a popular choice for fans of the permanent Soho and Fitzrovia locations, and there’s plenty of seafood options as well as vegan dishes to serve all tastes.
TomTom Mess Hall
Eccleston Street, Belgravia, SW1W 9LT
There are a few tables outside TomTom Mess Hall, and sitting there is the perfect spot to watch the world go by among the hustle and bustle of Belgravia. Menu highlights include a smoked salmon, chicory and dill salad, as well as the ‘Conscientious Objector Burger’ – comprising grilled halloumi, roasted red pepper, a Portobello mushroom, lettuce and sweet tomato relish. What’s not to love?
Scott’s
Mount Street, Mayfair, W1K 2HE
Originally opened as an oyster warehouse in 1851, Scott’s guarantees food with an atmosphere. The use of seafood at the heart of its sophisticated menu lends itself to its Mayfair location. Scott’s is one of the best fish restaurants in London and while it might not be by the sea, this restaurant’s menu brings fresh quality seafood to the capital. And, what’s more, it has a terrace on Mount Street where many famous faces are often spotted.
Baker & Spice
Elizabeth Street, Belgravia, SW1W 9PB
All-day brunch is always a great way to enjoy the weekend with friends, and what better place to take part in one than in the heart of Belgravia, bathed in summer sun? Baker & Spice offer dishes like mushrooms on toast, a classic English breakfast, eggs benedict, Florentine and royale, as well as a selection of granola and muesli dishes.
Sicily
Elizabeth Street, Belgravia, SW1W 9RB
We realise that the weather doesn’t always live up to expectations during an English summer, but Sicily has a solution. Its enormous outdoor terrace is covered, offering the perfect spot to enjoy a bite to eat and a glass of wine even when it’s threatening to rain. The restaurant also hosts regular music events, providing diners with plenty of entertainment.
