Missing all that festive food and cheer? Don’t worry – there are still plenty of things to do to put a smile on your face.
1. Afternoon tea at R Chocolate
Treat yourself to a little pick-me-up in the form of handcrafted cakes, pastries and some of the finest chocolate around at R Chocolate’s Belgravia store. Pair your delicacies with a glass of Rothschild champagne, or if you’re feeling extra luxurious, try the boutique’s special chocolate champagne. Who says January can’t be an indulgent month?
2. Visit the Fragrance Brasserie Bar at Jo Loves
Head to Elizabeth Street in Belgravia for some quiet ‘me time’ or pop along with a few friends for a relaxing afternoon. The concept is simple: select your desired fragrances to create a personal plate of scented tapas. Bath cologne is then warmed and released in a cloud of steam. After this, a cleanser is shaken over ice and strained into a glass and the lotion is whipped and foamed before being swept gently onto your skin with a paintbrush. Bliss.
3. Improve your home bar and throw a party
If you entertain a lot or simply enjoy the finer things at home, why not head to Georg Jensen in Mayfair’s Mount Street and treat yourself to some home bar equipment? Gorgeous wine pitchers, bottle stops and ice buckets will make your home look and feel like any fine wine bar. Get those invites ready!
4. Try a new cheese
Last month might have been a heavy month in terms of cheese consumption, but don’t let that put you off. Pop into The Fine Cheese Co. on Motcomb Street in Belgravia and speak to one of the knowledgeable members of staff, who’ll be happy to talk you through some of the more unusual options. A delicious hunk of creamy cheese might just be the treat you need after a long week in January.
5. Enjoy some light bites at the Mae Deli
Deliciously Ella’s deli in Weighhouse Street, Mayfair (pictured), is a favourite of anyone wanting something filling, delicious but feel-good. Head to the deli for lunch and you can expect to enjoy dishes like a warming Thai yellow coconut curry or cauliflower and red lentil dahl. If you fancy something sweet, try the banana bread or peanut fudge slice.
6. A simple stroll
An amble through Mayfair and Belgravia’s parks and green spaces will cheer anyone up. Wrap up warm, grab a friend and take a stroll around the areas. Why not head to Mayfair and end up at Brown Hart Gardens with a takeaway coffee for a good old catch-up in the fresh air?
