Prince Henry the Navigator
Sitting pensively in Belgrave Square, this famous navigator (pictured above) was a central figure in the early days of the Portuguese empire. He was a renowned navigator and helped with many maritime discoveries and expansion in his time. He is regarded as the main initiator of what would come to be known as the Age of Discovery.
Ronald Reagan
The 40th President of the USA can be found in Grosvenor Square (pictured right) outside the old American Embassy. Prior to his political career, Reagan was a Hollywood actor and union leader.
Simon Bolivar
Bolivar was a Venezuelan military and political leader who played a leading role in the establishment of Venezuela, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Panama as sovereign states, independent of Spanish rule. His statue can be found in Belgrave Square (pictured above).
Christopher Columbus
This famous Italian explorer, navigator and coloniser’s statue (pictured below) is in Belgrave Square. He’s famous for four voyages. The first he travelled to what is now the Bahamas and on the second he ended up in Puerto Rico. On the third voyage he sailed to South America and on the fourth he reached the Caymen Islands and was beached in Jamaica.
