The Gagosian Gallery
Situated on Davies Street, here you’ll find contemporary and modern art exhibitions with some huge names to boot – think Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollock, Damien Hirst and Pablo Picasso. The gallery’s current exhibition (until 7 April) is entitled Future History and showcases pieces by artists Takashi Murakami and Virgil Abloh.
Michael Werner
In Upper Brook Street is Michael Werner, a beautiful gallery housed in a traditional Mayfair townhouse. The charm of this gallery is that modern and contemporary work is displayed alongside the building’s intricate wall mouldings and carved fireplaces. It’s a fine example of tradition interwoven with the new – a perfect embodiment of Mayfair. It’s currently showing Paintings from the 1980s and Memorial to an Unknown East German Soldier by A.R. Penck until 21 April.
Halcyon Gallery
Any weekend wander down New Bond Street would be incomplete without a visit to Halcyon. This contemporary gallery is one of the best in the world and is currently showcasing stunning work by American artist Dale Chihuly (until 22 April). Highlights include Rotolo, heavy coils of glass wrapped around a core vessel and Baskets and Light Drawings, two-dimensional paintings on acrylic that showcase the artist’s expressive hand.
