Transported into another dimension by great photography? Head to GWP, in North Row. Greg Williams is one of the most acclaimed photographers in entertainment and has made his name creating portraiture that is synonymous with authentic glamour. Having established his reportage style as a photojournalist in the 1990s, covering war zones in Burman, Chechnya and Sierra Leone, a chance assignment for the Sunday Times Magazine attracted him and he caught the entertainment bug. Since then, has shot ‘specials’ on over 200 movies and created four poster campaigns for the Bond franchise. After over 30 years in the business, Greg has built up talent and brand partnerships that are second to none. Here you’ll find seminal photographs that whisk you away to another time and place.
If you live in the moment, then you just have to visit Paradise Row Projects, in Bourdon Street. Paradise Row, an emerging contemporary art gallery was established by curator Nick Hackworth and Paradise Row Projects is a one-year, not-for-profit, curatorial project, showcasing outstanding work drawn from all over the world, including London and the UK. Each exhibition and event is fundraising for specific and urgent social and environmental causes under the watchful eye of Nick and collector and patron, Pippa Hornby.
For a world-wide view, head to Rodeo Gallery, which seeks to expand dialogue between collectors, museums and curators. Rodeo opened in 2007 in Istanbul with owner Sylvia Kouvali creating opportunities for new groundbreaking artists across the world to showcase their work in Mayfair.
Mayfair Gallery, in South Audley Street, is a leading antiques and art gallery, holding a large and varied collection of unique pieces which are also for sale. The collection is breath-taking and includes items from a range of periods, styles and locations as well as works by famous artists and antique craftspeople.
Sapling Gallery founded by Charlotte Call, is a new space in Mount Street, containing projects produced in collaboration with curator Caspar Williams. The gallery showcases both emerging and established artists, alongside an experimental event programme, which is updated regularly.
Sollands, on South Audley Street, created by Grazyna Solland, features a curated collection of unique art furniture, which takes its inspiration from contemporary and traditional craftsmanship methods. The team is made up of highly skilled British craftspeople with decades of experience, who put their heart and soul into their furniture and premium furniture collections.
