As the nation continues to stay home, the side effects on mental health have become more and more visible. One thing that we’re coming away with from this difficult time is how important keeping moving helps us mentally as well as physically. This week, we’ve got two very different workouts but both equally soothing for the mind.

Dance and fitness club, Danceworks, situated in Mayfair, have an entire timetable of free live classes throughout the week. Whether looking for a bit of a giggle whilst learning a new skill, or to hone an existing one, they have everything from point classes to advanced level ballet, pilates to barre, and even tap and musical theatre. If this is your first dance class, then discover their handy tips for beginners to get started. Head to their Instagram to find everything you need to have fun whilst exercising from home.

For a slightly slower tempo workout, Hotpod Yoga, in Eccleston Yards, are here to help. Stretch out your limbs, increase flexibility and strengthen your whole body with a yoga class, either live streamed, or on demand for those with busy schedules.
They also have great resources aimed at critical workers across the country, compiled after a request from the NHS. These have been specially curated for those who are on their feet all day, and might not have time for a full yoga class. There’s a series of short-flow videos, including standing and chair-based flows, as well as audio files for guided relaxation. They also have written resources such as a five-minute movement sequence, an easy neck stretch and breathing exercises to keep you calm. All activity can be found on Hotpod Yoga’s website.
